The basics on who gets on the map, how we verify them, and what this whole thing is about.
A collection of independent bagel makers. Shops. Pop-ups. Cottage bakers. Wholesalers. Basically, if someone is making bagels independently, we want to make them easier to find.
Independent means the business isn't owned or controlled by a corporate parent, private equity firm, or venture capital firm. We're interested in who owns the business, not whether it looks "cute" on Instagram.
Every maker is reviewed before being marked as independently owned. We look at publicly available information about the business and its ownership. Makers who submit themselves also confirm that they're independently owned.
And we can get things wrong. If you know something we don't, tell us.

No. Nobody can pay to get on the map, move higher on the map, or get a better badge.
Use Get on the Map and tell us about yourself. We'll review the submission and verify the business before it goes live.
Nominate them. You don't need to own the business or create an account. Give us whatever information you have and we'll take it from there.
Probably because we haven't found them yet. This thing is being built one maker at a time. If they're independently owned, nominate them and we'll look into it.
Brick-and-mortar shops, pop-ups, cottage and home-based bakers, and wholesalers are all welcome. You don't need a storefront to make a great bagel.
No. We're not here to tell you who makes the "best" bagel in America. There are already plenty of people on the internet willing to fight about that. We're here to help you find the people making them so you can decide which one is "best."
Send us an Update My Listing request through the Contact page. We'll verify the request and make the change.
Absolutely. Choose Remove My Business on the Contact page. We'll verify that you represent the business and take care of it.
Tell us. Use Report an ownership concern on the maker's profile and send us whatever information or source you have.
A report doesn't automatically remove a maker or change their verification. We'll review it first.

Because there's probably somebody near you waking up at an ungodly hour, mixing dough, boiling bagels, paying rent or employees, and trying to turn their dream into something bigger.
